Would you like us to stock your work?

We work with lots of local authors and creatives to promote and sell their work - from books, prints, and posters to hand-crafted trinkets and any other items you can think of!

We receive a lot of stocking requests and as we are a small team, we would appreciate if you could read through the following before getting in touch. Please do not drop books or items into the shop unless we have requested. Please consider reading this resource to learn how to better support indie bookshops as a local author or creative.

We deeply appreciate authors and artists who take the time to support and promote the bookshop; from children’s authors informing their school networks about us, to social media shout-outs, and utilising the space in all its myriad of ways. To sell your items, we need our business to stay open! Don’t be shy about asking us about our stock and our customers, or join one of our book-clubs or writing groups in order to get to know our customer base.

Our terms:

All items will be stocked on a payment on sale basis (sale or return)*.
We take a 35% commission on all retail prices which help us to cover our costs - this is negotiable for not-for-profit items and independently produced projects.

We ask you to get in touch with us every few months to see what sales of your work have been made. Once sales figures have been established, we require an invoice and then payments will be made by BACS transfer.

If you would like to submit your work for consideration to stock in the shop or if you are interested in having an event or book launch please get in touch with us at submissions@thefolkestonebookshop.co.uk or via the form below. Provide us with a short description of your work and pricing information, as well as anything else you think we should know.

Once we receive the stock (we currently cannot offer collection), we can take photos to share on our social media. In the future, when we set up an online shop, your products will be sold on there too. Please note that while we are happy to showcase your items, promotional marketing for individual items is not within our responsibilities or capabilities.

We reserve the right to decline any stocking enquiries at our discretion and we will usually prioritise collaborations with authors who actively engage with and support our shop and business ethos.

*Due to a lack of space, if your work hasn’t sold after 90 days then we will ask you to collect it. We will still consider future work from you, it may just be that the particular theme of those specific items did not suit our customer-base.
