Space Hire & Hosting

Our bookshop has a variety of spaces available for hire for a range of uses. See below breakdown of the rates, as well as list of facilities and capacity, as well as our expectations for hosts utilising the shop.


When enquiring about renting the space, please give us as much detail as you can about the purpose of your hire. If you would like to rent the space but the rates below are too high, please get in touch anyway as we do not want folks to be excluded from utilising the shop and we can discuss arrangements.


Craft room

- Comfortable seated capacity of 6 people, maximum capacity 8 people
- Private space with table

During opening hours: £5-£10 per hour
Outside opening hours: £10-£15 per hour

Rates are on a sliding scale at our discretion dependent on staffing requirements; certain volumes of attendees while the shop is open will require more than one staff member to be present. 

Large area at back of shop floor

During opening hours:
- Comfortable seated capacity of 10 people
- While we are open, this is not a private space

Outside of opening hours:
- Extra table creates seated capacity of 18 people all with table access or audience-style seating for up to 30

During opening hours: £10-£25 per hour
Outside opening hours: £20-£35 per hour

Entire shop floor

- Standing capacity of approx 100 people
- Seating capacity of approx 30 people

During opening hours: not available
Outside opening hours: £20-£40 per hour


Notes:
- Evening rates are higher to cover staff and utility rates
- 20% discount if 5 or more sessions are booked
- Public events are sober spaces, for private events we allow alcohol to be served but do not have a licence for selling

Facilities:
- Wi-Fi
- Some craft supplies available (paper, pens, crayons) – please advise in advance if you will require access to these
- Free hot drinks and snacks
- Toilet available (please see accessibility page for further details)
- Small kitchen with sink, microwave, kettle, and filter coffee machine


Hosting Information

If you are hosting an event in our space, we will do our best to assist with marketing but we would appreciate if you make sure to add us as collaborators when you post on your Instagram grid (see this guide for how), and tag us when you post in your Instagram stories and when shared on Facebook; you can also add us as the location for the posts which helps people find us, and ensures we can cross-promote to both our audiences.

On the day we expect hosts to discuss with us their preferred schedule as well as work with us on the space set up, prep, and layout as well as tidying up afterwards in whatever capacity you are able to. We want to foster a respectful environment and encourage guests to speak well of us and want to return to the space, and we thank you for working with us to make that happen!
