Join other LGBTQ+ people in an engaging circle for sharing personal stories and queer history. We're bringing together queer people of different generations and identities in an event facilitated by writers Adam Zmith and Tash Walker (authors of The Log Books: Voices of Queer Britain and the Helpline that Listened, published by Faber).
You'll be able to meet other people, look over items from the archives, listen to audio from podcasts made by Aunt Nell, and share stories about yourself or where you're from. This is an informal way for the community to listen, reflect and engage with history.
ADAM ZMITH is a writer and multi-format producer. His book Deep Sniff: A History of Poppers and Queer Futures won the Polari First Book Prize. He writes theatre shows, talks and podcasts, including Press Play Turn On which won Podcast of the Year at the British Podcast Awards 2024.
TASH WALKER is a writer, poet, audio producer and community organiser who has worked with institutions such as the Barbican, The National Archives, BBC, The Charles Causley Trust and Queer Britain; they were a member of Switchboard’s board for eight years. In 2021 they were named one of the top 101 LGBTQ+ Trailblazers by Attitude Magazine, and in 2022 were included in Stonewall and DIVA’s Pride Power List.
Pastries and coffee will be available to all ticket holders as well as the Bookshop’s usual refreshment offerings.
Adam and Tash will also be discussing their book in person the evening before at the shop, so make sure you book yourself a ticket for that too!
