Creative Writing Club
CALLING ALL YOUNG WRITERS!
Join local author Donna McLean for a six-week after school course to help inspire your imagination, boost your writing confidence, and expand your creativity.
Our group numbers are capped, keeping them deliberately small, so that the children and young people can build confidence in their writing and in group discussion. Creative Writing Club will take place in six-week blocks on Thursdays during term-time, in the relaxed environment of The Folkestone Bookshop. The hour-long sessions are friendly and fun!
Group 1: 8-11 years
We’ll be encouraging imagination and creativity, working with ideas, prompts and our five senses. Once we have an idea for a story, we’ll start to look at character. From character, we’ll look at developing a plot. Expect a lively, playful and engaging atmosphere!
Group 2: 12-16 years
Specifically for young people aged 12 and above, the teenage writers’ group is fun, supportive and informal. Discussion and independent thought are encouraged, allowing like-minded young people to come together in sharing their natural curiosity and love of writing.
